Below are some example cards that feature some of the sounds that activity has to offer!

This activity was awesome because it offers REAL pictures with the stimulus words. There are so many stimulus words for each sound that it made the activity really easy to use for multiple sessions! I also liked that the words were age appropriate. She did a great job at selecting words specifically for this activity! That was really helpful for the younger students. The BEST thing about this activity was that it can be played with any game board-Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, any game board from a speech therapy company and I even used it with some of the game boards from TPT purchases. You could definitely use these cards with a definition activity or a describing activity as well. I often use my TPT purchases for more areas other than what they are used for! There are many other sets of this activity featuring different sounds. Activity Tailor has a wonderful blog that offers great information from many areas!

Free Space Friday: Super Duper Storage Tins!

I was perusing the Super Duper Website yesterday when writing my blog post yesterday and I came across this wonderful item! Storage tins! There are two different sizes- seen below.  Click on the images below to see the tins on the website.

                           

This might be an answer for all of you looking for ideas for storage for TPT cards purchased! 

For the small tin, you get 10 tins for 19.95 and for the larger tin you get 10 for 21.95.

I am SO excited about these and I am going to do some investigating with my card tins and TPT purchases to see if they can accommodate some of my cards from those activities!

Thank Goodness for Grannies Candies!

I have owned Grannies Candies ever since I began as a clinician in the school environment. My students absolutely LOVE this game! They liked the original version SO much that I decided to buy the 2nd and 3rd versions of Grannies Candies as well. Here is a short and sweet review of one of my favorite items from Super Duper Inc.

Set 1- Game of Word Meanings!

This is the fun game board that comes with the game!

In the original version (Set 1) , you receive 672 word-meaning cards (84 for each area below):

What belongs in this group? Which one doesn't belong? Give a describing word. How are they alike?

What do these have in common? What is this used for? How are they different? Give an action word.

These are examples of some of the game cards!

Now for Set 2-Vocabulary and Figurative Language Edition!

Set 2 includes 672 semantic skills cards (84 for each skill area):

Name a word similar to this one. (Synonyms)   Name a word opposite of this one. (Opposites) Give two meanings for this word. (Homonyms) What do these words mean? (Homophones) What do these words mean? (Heteronyms) What does this phrase mean? (Idioms) What does this phrase mean? (Similes) What does this sentence mean? (Metaphors)

These are some example cards from each area listed above!

Now for Set 3-Verb Edition!

Set 3 includes 672 word-meaning cards in these areas:

Regular Past Tense Irregular Past Tense Is-Are Was-Were Has-Have Do-Does

Verb + ing Main Verbs and Helping Verbs Subject-Verb Agreement Active-Passive Voice Past, Present, and Future Tense Contractions

I often use the game board and the candies using other cards and/or TPT activities! 

This activity is a wonderful edition to any speech room and offers SO many cards in each area that enables each of the 3 versions to be used more than once without the student's predicting answers. For holidays, I bring in some real candy and use them with the game candy pieces for added fun! The game candy pieces also fit in the Super Duper Token Towers like you see here. My students who like knowing and seeing their progress visually uses these when playing the game. Sometimes I use the game board and these token towers at the same time depending on the students I have in my group. They like to be able to choose which way they will keep track of their treats =D

Tangled Tuesday with Busy Bee Speech and Major Speech Pathology Fun by a Minor Girl

Today my friend, Lauren, and I teamed up for a Tangled Tuesday! Today I am showing her "Cause and Effect Arcade" activity! This is a well thought out activity that is great for elementary school and teaching cause and effect. So without further a-due here it is:

 There are very useful teaching posters included. There are labeled as reminder cards in the packet. There is also one for Effect. Since they are both on one page, I printed one out for each student working on cause and effect and had them utilize it before answering the question. 

Next there is a game board and dice layout included for added fun! I used the game board for the entire group. I used the cards for this activity for my students working on cause and effect and I used other stimulus cards for my student's other goals. That way I could use the same game despite having different goals.

For the first activity, the students label whether the underlined portion of the statement is a cause or effect. This was great as a receptive learning portion of the activity. 

The next set of cards has the students identifying the cause or effect of the situation on the card.

 The next activity has the student(s) expressively naming causes or effects for various situations. This was a nice way to show true knowledge of the subject area.

 To make the game even more fun, there are bonus cards! My students loved the idea of arcades. 

This was a really well thought out activity to target this area. Even my students in junior high have trouble with this "abstract" idea. I usually say my students get caught in "concrete world" and this activity will be a go-to activity for me to help my students escape concrete world.
