Thank Goodness for apps to help you choose who goes first!

So today is all about how I choose "who goes first" in my therapy sessions! There are many apps out there that will help YOU not be the bad guy in speech sessions!

If you haven't used the selector app- I say you should go out and get it now from Itunes!  It is a great app for deciding "who goes first" in your sessions. All of the students put one finger on the screen- then the selector app will randomly choose a student to go first!
My students LOVE to see who goes first and often do not get disappointed using this method because I had nothing to do with choosing! They will say "Can we see who the Ipad chooses??? PLEASE???".
Another great app for this is "Make Dice"
I add my students' names on the dice and have them roll the dice to see who goes first! You can even add pictures of the students on the dice for extra fun!
It is 0.99cents on Itunes!

The next app is not free, but it is 2.99 right now! It is called "Who's Next?"
You can set up each of your therapy groups with students names. Then all you do is shake the app and it randomly chooses someone to go next! It's pretty cool and worth the money if you decide to purchase it! Here is an example from the website as I did not want to show you my personal one to protect my student's identities!

Next, there is a Random Generator App!
It is simple and FREE! I have students choose a number between 1 and 4 (my largest session) and then I let the app decide!

Another simple and free app is called "iDecide" There are many options to choose from! I use heads or tails a lot in my sessions!

I hope these help decide the dreaded question of "who goes first!" I have all of these apps and they were a great addition to my speech room!

Thanks for reading!

  1. Sweet idea! I am an Android user and just did some searching, Google play has a free app called Select Who? that is like the first app you mentioned. Thanks for the idea, I am just glad I was able to find something for an Android device :)

    1. Sorry! I have no non-mac products so I am a total apple girl. Most of my stuff on technology will be on apple products. eek! I am glad you found the equivalent though!

  2. I have a super fun one, but I'm blanking on it's name. It's free. I think it's called "pick finger".
